Giant river otter ( Pteronura brasiliensis )  Trevor Platty/Getty It's a South American carnivorous mammal and the longest member of Weasel family, reaching up to 1.7 metres (5.6ft). Giant otter is a social species with family groups typically supporting three to eight members. In the other side, this species is territorial and agressive between groups. The giant otter is a diurnal species that have behavior of activity during the daytime which is the opposite of nocturnal that thave behavior mostly at night. The giant otters lives mostly in and along the Amazon River and in the Pantanal . They are now in the endangered  status because of Habitat degradation and loss as the greatest current threat. The giant otter subsists almost exclusively on a diet of fish, particularly characins and catfish. But may also eat crabs, turtles, snakes, and small caiman.
